Shipping policy
Last updated: September 23, 2026
Getting a live plant from our nursery to your home in healthy condition takes careful planning. This Shipping Policy from Auntie House of Plants explains how we process, pack, and ship your order — along with estimated delivery times, tracking, and what to do if something goes wrong along the way. By placing an order with us, you agree to the terms described here.
1. Where We Ship
We currently deliver to addresses within the contiguous (lower 48) United States. At this time, we do not ship internationally, to APO/FPO/DPO addresses, to Alaska, Hawaii, or to U.S. territories.
Shipping Rates
FREE shipping on every order — no minimum purchase required.
No extra charges: handling, processing, and checkout fees are not added. The total displayed at checkout is the final amount you pay.
How We Ship
All orders travel through established carrier networks — USPS, UPS, FedEx, or a comparable service selected according to your location and order details. Live plant orders are always routed with transit speed as the priority, since time in the box directly affects plant health.
2. Order Processing
We work to get your order moving quickly so your plants spend as little time as possible in transit.
Handling time: 1–3 business days.
Daily cut-off: 5:00 PM Pacific Time — orders confirmed before the cut-off typically enter fulfillment and are ready for carrier pickup by the next business morning. Orders placed after the cut-off begin processing the following business day.
Weekends & holidays: orders submitted on Saturdays, Sundays, or public holidays start processing on the next business day.
Weather protection holds: when temperatures are forecast above 90°F or below 35°F, we may pause or adjust the shipping method for live plant orders to protect them in transit. If your order is affected, we'll notify you by email.
Email updates: you'll receive an order confirmation right after checkout, then a shipping confirmation with tracking once your parcel leaves us.
3. Estimated Delivery
Standard shipping (transit time): approximately 4–7 business days after the shipment date.
Delivery estimates are counted from the ship date, not the purchase date. All timeframes are approximations — peak seasons, carrier backlogs, and weather events can extend them beyond our control.
4. How We Protect Live Plants in Transit
Secure packaging: every plant is wrapped, braced, and boxed to limit movement and prevent shifting damage during handling.
Seasonal shielding: depending on conditions, we add insulated liners, heat packs, or cold packs to keep temperatures within a safe range.
Speed-first carrier selection: for live orders we choose the fastest practical service for your ZIP code and the current forecast.
Normal transit effects: light leaf drop, mild wilting, or a bit of loose soil is common after traveling and usually resolves within a few days once the plant settles into its new spot.
5. Carrier Selection
Your order ships with a reputable national carrier — commonly USPS, UPS, or FedEx — chosen based on your destination and the characteristics of the order. The specific carrier for your parcel is identified in your shipping confirmation email.
6. Tracking Your Order
When your package departs, we send a shipping confirmation email containing your tracking number and a direct link so you can follow the delivery in real time.
Haven't received a tracking email? Contact us and we'll look it up for you.
7. Shipping Address Accuracy
Double-check your address before submitting your order. If a parcel is returned to us because the address was incorrect or incomplete, we'll reach out to arrange reshipment at no additional charge.
Live plant tip: whenever possible, ship to an address where someone can bring the box indoors right away. Leaving plants on a doorstep or in a mailbox exposes them to heat, cold, and direct sun.
8. Changing an Order
Need to edit your order — for example, update the delivery address? Contact us within 24 hours of ordering. After that window, the order may already be in fulfillment and edits may no longer be possible.
If the package has already shipped, please follow our Refund & Return Policy instead.
9. Delivery Attempts
The carrier will attempt delivery to the address provided at checkout. If delivery fails, the carrier may leave a notice with re-delivery or pickup instructions.
It is your responsibility to provide a valid address and to receive or collect the parcel. We are not responsible for deliveries that fail due to incomplete or inaccurate customer-supplied addresses.
For live plants: please arrange for someone to accept the package on the delivery date whenever possible. A box left on a porch during extreme heat or cold can cause irreversible damage.
10. Delays Beyond Our Control
We cannot be held responsible for delays caused by:
- Carrier service interruptions, backlogs, or errors
- Severe weather or natural disasters
- Temperature extremes that require us to hold a live plant shipment for its safety
- Other force majeure events outside our reasonable control
If your delivery is significantly behind schedule, contact us — we'll work with the carrier on your behalf.
11. Lost or Damaged Parcels
Lost packages: if your order doesn't arrive within the estimated delivery window, let us know and we'll open an investigation with the carrier to get it resolved.
Damaged packages or plants: if your order arrives damaged, unhealthy, or incorrect, please contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 7 days of delivery. Include your order number and clear photos of the item and packaging if available. Keeping the original box and packing materials can help us investigate, but missing packaging or a later report will not automatically prevent us from reviewing your request.
For live plant shipments, close-up photos of the foliage and root zone are helpful if available. Once we've reviewed the circumstances, we'll work with you on an appropriate replacement or refund. This policy does not limit any rights you may have under applicable law.
12. Split Shipments
Orders containing multiple items may be packed separately and arrive on different days. You'll receive a separate shipping confirmation for each parcel.
Split shipments never carry extra shipping charges unless clearly stated at checkout.
